I disagree. Architects don’t have to love people to love designing buildings. Clothing designers don’t go on about the problems they’re solving. The problems that we solve in UX are minuscule compared to the problems that get solved in most other fields. Sales is about solving problems. Engineering is about solving problems. UX is about placing as much information as beautifully as possible in the shortest amount of the time.

The problem is that the field is so overly aggrandized that everyone acts like UX designers are gunning for a Nobel prize every time we lay out another SaaS website or make a mobile app. It’s okay for a UX designer to love designing for a platform.
